dress shopping...the battle within...

A cruel thing really...put a girl in a room with thousands of pretty gowns and tell her to pick one, only one! Seriously people, now that's just mean. More painful then jean shopping (yes, there is such a thing)...more stressful and labor intensive then most people's day jobs...more of an internal battle then I ever expected it to be. So many to choose from, such a huge price range, styles, shapes, textures...wow. Midway through the search the battle within emerged...the fight between the princess in me and the girl that dares to walk to her own beat...at every store I had narrowed it down to 2 very different style dresses. The battle between having the fairytale dress and having the more sophisticated, form fitting, flashy dress that not every girl would wear…the one that people would say, “only jumper”…the battle continued and raged throughout the day…up until the 11th hour when I was stood in the dressing room of a bridal store, 45 minutes from my parents house, 30 minutes till closing time with 4 dresses…2 of one style, 2 of the other…wanting them all, having only one wedding day, and only one dress to be had. Over 50 dresses, 4 stores, and 9 hours...i purchased a wedding dress. Which one did I pick…I’ll let you know in 6 months.

Texting...

...it's the new IM, the lazy man's voice mail, the way to communicate when you know the other person can't actually answer the phone, and works great in a loud environment...everybody's doing it now...it's becoming the 'thing' to do...."Text Me"...yet I have a problem with it...it's not the concept, it's the word, 'I was texting so and so' or 'He texted me today'...it sounds dirty to me. I have a hard time hearing it or listening to it in conversation. I'm not sure what it is about the word that makes it seem dirty to me, if it's the actual word or just the way the word is being used in a sentence but something about it makes me uncomfortable...am I alone in this?

Christmas Tour 2005 - Greetings from Ludington

John and I have left the comfort of Chicago and our crazy jobs to spend a week trampsing around the midwest visiting friends and family. It started out Saturday morning heading to Toledo...(yes 'Holy Toledo, go ahead and say it everyone else does) to meet all of 'the fellas' for the annual Christmas party. It was great to finally meet these guys that John talks so much about...after being drilled by one of them in a most interesting fashion, winning a Napoleon Dynamite pen, and very little sleep, we headed north to Ludington, MI where John's parents live (stopping on the way to meet TJ, John's brother for linner). In Hallmark commercial fashion, we showed up at the Church where John's mom was performing with her bell choir on Sunday night around 7:45 just to see the last 2 numbers. And it is here, where we have been hiding out for the past 2 days. It has been most relaxing and enjoyable. I joined in for the bell choir practice tonight (bit rusty after almost 8 years), met the 15 year old gold fish, saw for the first time black squirrels, and have received doggy eye daggers from Bud the dog...he's jealous what can I say. So that's where I have been and where I will remain until Thursday when we head back to the city to pick up some Christmas gifts before heading back to Dad and Momrich's.

Clean Freak

I went to my first Bulls game last week...and although it was a ton of fun...I found that one of my favorite parts was when the guy came out with the Swiffer and cleaned the floors during the game...how cool is that?? How do you get that job?? Swiffing the Bulls floor. Sweat! Then I started to think that I may have an obsession....not just with the Swiffer, as most of you know I do but...it hit me that one of my highlights of Baseball games is when the ump steps up and sweeps off the plate with his little pocket broom....it was that point that I realized I may have an illness.
