Texting...

...it's the new IM, the lazy man's voice mail, the way to communicate when you know the other person can't actually answer the phone, and works great in a loud environment...everybody's doing it now...it's becoming the 'thing' to do...."Text Me"...yet I have a problem with it...it's not the concept, it's the word, 'I was texting so and so' or 'He texted me today'...it sounds dirty to me. I have a hard time hearing it or listening to it in conversation. I'm not sure what it is about the word that makes it seem dirty to me, if it's the actual word or just the way the word is being used in a sentence but something about it makes me uncomfortable...am I alone in this?

Yet...you didn't have a problem with "IM me"? Seems the same to me.

IM me does not bother me...it does not sound dirty to me.

I have a problem with the word "texted"...it doesn't sound dirty to me---it just sounds like a three-yr-old's word.

Here's my theory. Texting has that dirty little letter "X" in it. Basically, the letter "X" is the rebel bad boy of the alphabet. He is synonymous with XXX, X-rated, sex, etc. You can't help but not like the word texting, it's down right dirty!
